This doll came from the world famous La Isla de las Muñecas (“Island Of Dolls”). For those of you not familiar with the place, it’s a Mexican island, full of thousands of haunted dolls, in various states of decay. Local residents say that restless spirits possess the dolls and haunt the island. At night, the dolls are especially animated and active, spooking and creeping out anyone who dares to come to their island. Locals say that there’s an evil, sinister plan among the dolls, to lure people into joining them on the other side.

In the late 50s, a man named Don Julian Santana Barerra lived on the island. When he first moved to the island there weren’t any creepy, haunted dolls. But, unbeknownst to him, the island was already haunted by a young girl who had drowned in a murky waterway on the island. Soon after his arrival, she made herself known to Don Julian and begged him to bring her dolls to play with. She also told him that the dolls would help distract and ward off the evil, ancient spirits that wandered the island. He must have been really spooked by what she told him, because he spent the next several years, scouring local dumps for unwanted dolls, to appease the island’s restless spirits. Over the years, the island became inhabited by thousands of creepy dolls. But according to Don Julian, no matter how many dolls he brought to the island, it was never enough to satisfy the spirits.

In 2001, Don Julian finally broke down and gave in to the evil spirits of the island. One day, while he was out fishing, with his nephew, on the waterway where the young girl had drowned, he heard voices calling to him, from beneath the water. He told his nephew that he had always heard strange voices on the island, but these were much louder than before and he felt like he couldn’t resist them anymore. Later that day, Don Julian’s nephew found his uncle floating face down, in the haunted waterway, only a few feet from where the little girl had drowned. To this day, the dolls remain on the island, making it one of the world’s strangest and scariest tourist attractions, for sure.

haunted dollNow, you can own a piece of haunted history, by bidding on this doll from the island of dolls. According to Ebay seller blivy, “To obtain and doll originally from the Island of the Dolls is an extremely rare occurrence. We were fortunate enough to have a few in our possession for a period of time when we inherited from my great aunt who managed to have the dolls procured. I’m not sure how this was done and I dont wish for anyone to get in trouble as she has passed on since. What I do know is that they are real and are really from the island. My great aunt had a huge respect for all of her collection but especially these very unique dolls and their spirit attachments.”

This creepy doll is believed to have more than one spirit attached to it. The attached spirits are especially active at night, opening and slamming doors shut. Many witnesses have seen “an odd mist formation that is like a black, billowy smoke” surrounding the doll. Pretty scary stuff. I don’t think I would want this doll in my home.
